You are extraordinarily kind and it is having clients and patients like Sarah, Dottie and the rest of Swallowtail Hills menagerie that makes my job all the more enjoyable / entertaining !!
PS. It is not that I am camera shy, but I am the veterinary professions version of 'The Stig', who goes by the title of 'AnnatheVet' but is never identified.

I had no idea that dogs had anal glands and had even less idea that they needed draining! Have to say, I was much happier before I was furnished with this information but indeed I will be Googling for more information later!

Am I allowed to add that we also spent 3 days chopping down trees (also known as coppicing) and masterfully creating enormous bonfires in the driving rain? I feel all this outdoors activity should have negated the overdose of lard but unfortunately the scales don't agree.

New Year's Resolution - fry more green veg and less cheese. (Oh and freecycle the weightwatchers scales.)

I think the donkeys get another vote, and there is such a compelling business case there too - who would not want to buy something from a Donkey Pedlar?

And if you find yourself at a loose end between Xmas and New Year and fancy working off some of the inevitable Xmas excess then we are looking for willing hands to help with the house still and more than happy to return the favour with helping to put up your definitely needed sheds :)

Have a great holiday time...

But Donkeys are sooooooo cute, and really easy to look after, and the kids of the campers and visitors will love them, and everyone will want to come back year after year just to see the donkeys and there are lots of donkeys that are desperate for good homes!!!
I'm with you Sarah .... you DEFINITELY need some donkeys... and they don't really need a shed ... more of a stall, or shelter ... really easy to build! I've got someone here who will be more than willing to help!
Sorry Christopher, looks like you'll be well on the way to shed 16 ... or 17 just to be on the safe side in 2012.
Have a great Christmas ...
Oh, and a really fun game for Christmas day ... "Name the Donkeys!!"
Enjoy ... xxxx

You can be qualified in Pixie Shelter construction? Probably only a matter of time before it becomes a fully-fledged degree. I myself have an HND in mining Womble-burrows.

Dear Mud in your eye

Thank you for another brilliant insight to life on Swallowtail Hill Farm and also for adding to my education. As a result of reading this blog I now know the story behind the reference to 'Sisyphean' (obviously I had to look it up). However, given Christopher's inability to remember Sarah's name I'm intrigued to know the identity of the subject in the last sentence?

Can you help?

Thank you
Graham

Really enjoyed this post! Hens make for hours of watching and time wasting...who would think they would prove so fascinating? We have four and it amuses me that provided with three lovely clean nest boxes they take it in turns to all lay in one box. Very politely and taking care with the other eggs. Vera is a handsome beast despite his pansy tendencies! xx
